The roadmap
What’s built, what’s being built, and what isn’t decided.
Everywhere else on this site describes only what Scout & Cast does today. This is the one page that names what it doesn’t do yet, so nobody has to guess. There are no dates on it. The build is nights and weekends, and a date would be a promise.
Built
Working today, for any guide who sets up a service.
Requests on the days you have open
Anglers pick a trip and the days they could go. Blocked days and days with a trip on them are crossed out. Nothing is held until the guide says so.
A page for the angler
Where to meet and how to drive in, when to arrive, what to bring, who's coming, the forecast, the guide's number. Private link, never indexed.
Conversations kept with the trip
An angler writes from their trip page or replies to any email; it lands in the guide's inbox and on the trip.
Payments logged by hand
Cash, check, Venmo, Zelle, card: each one logged as it comes in, and the trip shows what's still owed.
The recap
Spots and fish logged on the water, photos from the boat, the day written up under the guide's name and sent to the angler.
Water pages, and finding a guide by the water
A page for every lake and river we cover, with the guides who list it, the ramps, the license link and the conditions.
Teams
A service with more than one guide: invitations, roles, each guide's own trips and blocked days.
Reminders
The day-before email to the angler, unless the service turns it off, and a nudge to the guide when a request has waited.
Building
What is being worked on now, in no particular order and with no date attached.
Deciding
Ideas that are real, and open. Each one waits on the conversations with guides.
Intel subscriptions
Guides selling what they know about their water to anglers, by subscription. The idea is settled; the pricing is not, including whether a guide pays a small base fee. Nothing is built, and nothing about it appears on the site until it is.
Online deposits
The payment ledger exists and is kept by hand. Whether and how a card gets charged through the app, and who carries the processing fee, is not decided.
A paid tier
Whether there is ever a plan above the free one, and what would be in it, is not decided. Booking and trip management stay as they are either way.
Not doing
Sharing where anyone fishes, or what they caught, with any third party. Not for money, not in aggregate, not ever. The rest of what we hold to is on the promises page.
