Promises

Your spots stay yours.

A guide’s knowledge of the water is their living. Scout & Cast holds some of it, on the trip log and in the recaps, and these are the rules for how it is treated. They are checked against how the app actually works, and when the app changes, this page changes the same day.

  1. 01

Where you fish stays off the internet.

A spot you mark on the water is seen by your own service and by the angler on that trip, in their recap, on a private page that search engines don't index. It is never on a lake page, never in a list, never a pin on a public map. The waters you add are public, because that is how anglers find you. Where you fish on them isn't.

  2. 02

Nothing is sold or shared with anyone.

Not your spots, not your catches, not where your boat went. Not to a tackle brand, a mapping app, a lake association or an agency, and not stripped of names and added up, either. There is no price for it, and no offer that changes that.

  3. 03

Catch data is not a product.

Guides log what they log, on wet days with one hand, and any total built from it would be wrong in ways nobody could see. So there is no aggregate, no heat map and no "what's biting" built from your logs, and there won't be one.

  4. 04

Your public page shows what you choose.

Your service name, where you run from, your trips and their prices, the waters you list, your photos and your own words. An angler sees that you fish a water. They do not see where on it, or how a day went.

  5. 05

    The water comes first.

Content that could harm a water, or that breaks tribal or private access limits, comes off the platform. Protecting a spot from a crowd is part of why spots stay private in the first place.

  6. 06

Anglers keep what they were given.

A recap sent to an angler is theirs: the write-up, the photos, the spots fished that day. It stays on their trip page, and nothing in it goes anywhere else.

Still being settled

Two questions guides ask that don’t have a promise yet. They are written here as questions rather than answered with a guess.

If you leave

[DECISION NEEDED: what a guide can take with them. The plan says a guide can export all of their data and anglers keep their own recaps; Tyler hasn’t settled it. Nothing is promised until he has.]

Other guides reading your intel

[DECISION NEEDED: intel subscriptions aren’t built, and when they are, a rival could subscribe like anyone else. We won’t promise it can never happen. What we do to limit it is open.]

Hold us to it.

If something on the site or in the app looks like it breaks one of these, email tyler@scoutandcast.com and say which. What is and isn’t built is on the roadmap.
