West Fork Montreal River
A river in Wisconsin
About West Fork Montreal River
The West Fork of the Montreal River runs 16 miles through Iron County, through Gile and past Montreal, Germania and Orva, in the old iron range country on the Michigan border. The survey gives it 58 acres of surface and 15 miles of bank.
The designations are broader than the size suggests. Musky are managed as natural reproduction plus stocking, walleye as natural reproduction only, seven miles carry a Class II trout classification, and smallmouth habitat is classified as nursery and wadable warm water. Four programmes on sixteen miles of small river.
No public boat landing is on record. This is steep country with a lot of gradient, and the river is reached on foot from roads and bridges.
