Suamico River
A river in Wisconsin
About Suamico River
The Suamico River is small — 42 acres of surface, nine miles of bank, eight miles end to end — and it runs straight through the village of Suamico in Brown County before reaching Green Bay just north of the city.
One public landing is on record. The river is classified by the state as smallmouth nursery water, which on a tributary this size and this close to the bay describes exactly what it is: a place fish come from rather than a destination in itself.
What makes a river like this worth knowing is its mouth. Bay tributaries draw fish in seasonally, and the ones close to open water are fished for that reason rather than for their own length.
Green Bay and its tributaries can fall under different rules from inland water. Check the current DNR regulations before fishing it.

Wisconsin sells them online. Buy one from the state. We don’t know whether you need one — that depends on your age, where you live, the water, and what your guide’s own license covers.
