South Branch Embarrass River
A river in Wisconsin
About South Branch Embarrass River
The South Branch of the Embarrass runs 12 miles through Shawano County, straight through Tigerton and past Caroline. The survey gives it 126 acres of surface and 32 miles of bank.
Twenty-two miles across its system are classified as Class I and Class II trout water, with an Exceptional Resource Water listing. Class I is the state's designation for a self-sustaining trout population. Smallmouth habitat is classified as nursery and wadable warm water on the lower reaches.
One public access is on record. A trout river running through the middle of a village is easier to reach than most, and worth walking both up and down from the bridge.
Trout regulations vary by reach and season. Check the current DNR rules before fishing it.

Wisconsin sells them online. Buy one from the state. We don’t know whether you need one — that depends on your age, where you live, the water, and what your guide’s own license covers.
