Kelly Brook
A river in Wisconsin
About Kelly Brook
Kelly Brook runs eight miles through Oconto County, through Spruce and past Lena and Oconto Falls. The survey gives it 88 acres of surface and 25 miles of bank.
Fifteen miles are classified as Class I trout water. Class I is the state's top classification for a trout population — self-sustaining, no stocking required — and having it apply across the whole classified length of a brook this size is worth knowing. Smallmouth habitat is classified as nursery water lower down.
No public boat landing is on record and none would serve. This is a brook: fished on foot, quietly, by people who have looked at a map.
Trout regulations vary by reach and by season, and access depends on where public ground meets the water. Check the current DNR trout regulations and access maps.

Wisconsin sells them online. Buy one from the state. We don’t know whether you need one — that depends on your age, where you live, the water, and what your guide’s own license covers.
