Exploring some of Nebraska?s fly fishing gems will not only provide the opportunity to catch wild trout, but also the opportunity to experience some of the Midwest?s most interesting natural settings. Beyond trout, there's plenty of warmwater action to be had throughout the Cornhusker State, giving anglers in Nebraska a great all-around list of fishing locations to enjoy.

The northwest corner of Nebraska holds some of the state?s only brook trout in over a dozen spring-fed creeks within an area called Pine Ridge. Brown trout are also found in these crystal-clear waters that run through some of the wildest, picturesque scenery Nebraska has to offer. While there are several creeks within Pine Ridge that offer public access, many run through private land and anglers are required to gain permission before fishing. Another unique trout fishery in the state is the Loup River Drainage in the Sandhills of eastern Nebraska. Here, anglers can fish for browns and rainbows in several remote, sand-bottomed streams that are easy to wade. In southwest Nebraska, the North Platte Valley offers anglers even more trout fishing in the North Platte River and more than a dozen smaller streams that host brown and rainbow trout.

Some of Nebraska?s best warmwater fly fishing can be had in the Niobrara Valley, where largemouth and smallmouth bass, white bass, crappie, northern pike, and carp can be caught in several streams flowing through beautiful canyons. Numerous lakes and reservoirs throughout the state such as Summit Lake and Red Willow Reservoir, provide further opportunities for warmwater fishing.
